ELECTIONS 2024 / SEC: 24,830 supporting signatures for presidential candidates until Sunday

Skopje, 26 February 2024 (MIA) - According to the latest data published by the State Election Commission (SEC), a total of 24,830 signatures have been collected for the presidential candidate bids until Sunday. No candidate has thus far collected the necessary 10,000 supporting signatures.

SEC data show that so far DUI's candidate Bujar Osmani has the most signatures, i.e. 8,560 supporting signatures. ZNAM Movement leader, Maksim Dimitrievski is second on the list with 5,923 supporting signatures. Levica-backed candidate Biljana Vankovska-Cvetkovska has collected 4,478 signatures, and GROM party candidate Stevcho Jakimovski has 3,091 supporting signatures.

All others on the list of 11 presidential candidates have fewer supporting signatures. Arben Taravari, candidate of the opposition bloc "Worth It", has 1,645 signatures, Velo Markovski has 433 signatures, Mersiha Smailovikj, supported by the Bosniak Democratic Alliance (BDS), has 523, Gjorgji Manaskov - 93, Zorica Cvetkovska - 74, and Gospodin Poposki - 10 signatures.

According to SEC data, in the past three days, not a single signature has been collected for candidate Tome Nikoloski.

The period for collection of signatures started on Friday (February 23) and will last through March 8. The collection of signatures takes place in all SEC departments and offices across 34 municipalities, and before notaries public. The offices operate every day in two shifts, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. On the final day, March 8, the offices will be open until midnight. ssh/sk/
