Education Ministry to strengthen cyber security with Israeli help

Skopje, 14 July 2023 (MIA) - The Ministry of Education and Science said Friday that it will receive help from Israel in intensifying the process of digitalization and improving cybersecurity. This was discussed at Friday's meeting between the Minister of Education and Science Jeton Shaqiri and Israeli Ambassador, Simona Frankel.

"Minister Shaqiri pointed out that at a time of increased and intensified cyberattacks it is very important for education to be a safe, resilient and reliable digital environment, therefore Israel's announced help will contribute to the protection of schools, students and their data," the Ministry of Education and Science said in a press release.

At the meeting, which was also attended by head of the Institute for Spiritual and Cultural Heritage of Albanians, Skender Asani, Shaqiri and Frankel exchanged views on opening a multimedia center for the commemoration of Holocaust victims.

"The Minister received an invitation to visit Israel in October for more detailed talks and clarification for the assistance, regarding which meetings will be held with several competent institutions and leading companies in the field of digitalization and cybersecurity. For the coordination, planning and implementation of activities, the ministries covering the education sector in both countries are expected to sign a memorandum of cooperation,” the press release adds. ssh/nn/
