Skopje, 7 May 2023 (MI) - The Ministry of Education and Science said Sunday it has received a dozen messages at e-mails prijavinasilstvo@mon.gov.mk and paraqitdhune@mon.gov.mk in Albanian language. Some refer to peer violence while others come from former teachers providing suggestions on how to prevent and reduce violence among school children and youth.
The e-mail is a fast, confidential and safe way for students, parents and citizens to report incidents, as part of the system of identifying and preventing undesired behavior. Every report will be investigated and proper measures will be undertaken, the Ministry said in a press release.
It notes that schools must be a safe environment and adds that an urgent assessment of the situation and the security risks will be proposed to the Government, for the purpose of reducing all possible risks and threats to the security of students and teachers in schools.
The ministry is already drafting protocols and guidelines for school services and teachers on the use of social networks in schools.
Preventive programmes to counter bullying, promotion of non-violence and dialogue as key elements for the education and development of children are to be further strengthened in consultation with the expert community. We call on parents to take active participation by raising their children to be tolerant, avoid violence, respect and understand those who are different. The only way to a healthy youth and safe schools is through joint efforts by all stakeholders involved in the upbringing and education of children, reads the press release.
