Skopje, 28 September 2022 (MIA) – Minister of Education and Science Jeton Shaqiri and French Ambassador Cyrille Baumgartner signed Wednesday a memorandum of cooperation aimed to promote French language instruction in schools and universities across North Macedonia. Minister Shaqiri said the memo commits the ministry to incentivize the selection of the French language in primary and secondary schools through activities focused on its development, promotion tools and organization of events for school leaderships and pedagogues, as well as strengthening of French language instruction in schools through contemporary technological means, pedagogical training in France, networking of schools from France, North Macedonia and the region. “The ministry will put tools for promotion of the French language at the disposal of primary and secondary schools, developed within the region project of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, stimulating their use by pupils and parents,” said Shaqiri. The French Embassy is set to create a network of schools under the brand “I Love French”, the Ministry of Education and Science said in a press release. “Schools within this network will be equipped with interactive panels in the French language cabinets, and the Embassy will cover all costs for pedagogical training in France of six teachers selected through a nomination process,” said Ambassador Baumgartner.
