Skopje, 18 July 2025 (MIA) -- Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska has confirmed that schoolchildren nationwide will receive free foreign language textbooks on Sept. 1.

"At my great pleasure, they will," she said in response to a reporter's question if foreign language textbooks would be available at the start of the 2025-26 school year.

Elementary school students have had no foreign language textbooks to study from for years, Janevska said.

Showing samples of the new textbooks approved by the Ministry of Education and Science, she said English and German textbooks would be available for grade one through nine.

Janevska said French and Italian textbooks would be available soon, as well.

"The procedure is under way and I am deeply convinced we will have all the textbooks on Sept. 1," she told reporters. mr/
