Economy Ministry to grant tourism vouchers to workers from low-income households

Skopje, 9 February 2024 (MIA) – The Ministry of Economy will grant 3.555 travel vouchers worth Mden 18.000 to workers coming from households whose monthly net income is below Mden 50.000. The recipients will be able to use the vouchers at designated domestic tourism facilities.

At a press conference Friday, Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi said the public call for the vouchers would be published on February 12. All employed natural persons with net household incomes below Mden 50.000 will be allowed to apply. He said Mden 62 million have been allocated for the measure, enabling the granting of 3.555 vouchers.

“The vouchers will be able to be used outside of the tourist season in any of the facilities listed in the list of registered accommodation facilities published on the Ministry’s website. The voucher can be used from the day it is granted until June 30, 2024, as well as between September 15 and December 1, 2024,” said Bekteshi.

The main goal of the measure, he said, is to make it possible for low-income workers to go on vacation, while at the same time helping tourism facilities increase the volume of work outside of the tourist season.
