Economy Minister seeks support from IRC and MOC-OA on energy saving
Skopje, 19 September 2022 (MIA) – Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi sought support Monday from the head of the Islamic Religious Community (IRC), Reis Shaqir Fetahu, for the observance of energy saving measures by the IRC and its believers. He announced he will also ask the Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archbishopric (MOC-OA) for support in the energy saving activities. The aim is to reduce consumption and free up more electricity for industry. “Every message that the IRC sends will be of great support, and it will be shared through the mosques to all the believers, whether they are Albanian, Turkish, etc. This is very important because saving energy will help the family budget, at the same time helping the institutions to reduce their costs, and free up more electricity to aid the industry which creates jobs and provides income for the families,” said Bekteshi. Fetahu called on all citizens in these difficult moments to be aware of the role and contribution they can have. He announced they will immediately take measures to rationalize electricity consumption, although, he emphasized, they are careful in that area. “We have over 700 buildings, 13 muftiships, we will all discuss how to help, and I, as the leader of the IRC, will be together with my colleagues and believers every Friday, to talk about this topic and about a way out of the crisis,” said Fetahu. Bekteshi stated that his team held talks with MOC-OA on Monday in order to determine a potential date for a meeting on this topic, and he expects it to be held sometime this week. ad/ik/
