Skopje, 13 March 2023 (MIA) - The Economic and Social Council is expected to make a decision on the amount of the minimum wage at a session on Monday.
In a statement to MIA on Friday, Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jovanka Trenchevska announced that the Council will convene today and the session will focus on the minimum wage.
"The decision on the amount of the minimum wage is made by the Economic and Social Council, then it is published in the Official Gazette, so that employers can align the wages they will pay for the month of March with the decision, i.e. with the amount of the minimum wage," Trenchevska said in a video statement at MIA's press center in Shtip.
According to statements of ministers in the economy sector, the government's expectations are that the minimum wage will amount to about Mden 20,000.
The minimum wage is aligned every March. Under the amendments to the Law on Minimum Wage, new criteria were introduced according to which the minimum wage is aligned with 50 percent of the cost of living and 50 percent with the growth of the average wage.
