Brussels, 4 July 2022 (MIA) – The European Commission has welcomed the revised French proposal on the North Macedonia negotiating framework, saying it ensures the start of EU negotiations, MIA reports from Brussels.
“We welcome the developments with respect to Bulgaria and North Macedonia, we’ve had the French proposal and thanks to it and the work done by the French Presidency, which reached the end of its term last week, tremendous progress has been made on this matter,” European Commission Deputy Chief Spokesperson Dana Spinant told a daily press briefing.
Spinant was also quizzed on the protests against the French proposal over the weekend and the opposition’s rejection of the document.
“We are closely following the developments in North Macedonia. It is time for responsible decisions allowing the negotiations process to move ahead. The revised French Presidency proposal would allow for this, and we call on all political parties to act constructively, in the interest of the citizens who have been waiting for a long time to move on the EU path,” said EC Spokesperson Ana Pisonero.
She added the French Presidency proposal “takes into account all interests and concerns.”
