Kayseri, 7 February 2023 (dpa/MIA) - The earthquake death toll in Turkey has risen to 4,544, officials say.

The national Disaster and Emergency Management Authority says more than 26,000 people have been reported injured.

In neighbouring Syria, at least 1,712 people were killed and more than 3,749 injured, according to the Health Ministry and the rescue organization White Helmets, which are counting the tolls in government-controlled and opposition-controlled areas respectively.

This brings the total number of dead in both Turkey and Syria to more than 6,200.
