Durmishi - Rokas: Implementation of reforms in economy a priority on path to EU membership

Skopje, 8 November 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Economy and Labour Besar Durmishi met Friday with the new EU Ambassador Michalis Rokas, the Economy Ministry said in a press release.
"Cooperation with the European Union and the implementation of economic reforms are among the most important priorities of the Ministry of Economy and Labour," Durmishi said, adding that as a Minister he will be fully engaged in the implementation of his responsibilities in the reform agenda.
According to Durmishi, the agenda's main goal is to strengthen the implementation of reforms by accelerating the alignment of the country's public sector with the values, laws, rules, standards, policies and practices of the Union's public sector, ensuring transparent management, developing a competitive and green economy, and support to the accession process.
The interlocutors noted that these meetings are essential for strengthening cooperation and encouraging reforms that help the country meet EU standards and expectations.
Minister Durmishi stressed that the EU is an important partner and thanked the EU for its ongoing support to the country, expressing hope that it will continue in the future, towards achieving the goal of full integration in the EU.
