Durmishi – Otsuka: Promoting bilateral cooperation between North Macedonia and Japan

Skopje, 12 September 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Economy and Labor Besar Durmishi met Thursday with the Japanese Ambassador to North Macedonia, Otsuka Kazuya.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Labor, at the meeting Durmishi and Otsuka stressed their interest in further enhancement of cooperation, as well as closer relations between the two countries and peoples. Durmishi said the trade exchange between North Macedonia and Japan isn’t big, but there is room for further improvement in the coming period.
“In the coming period, the Ministry of Economy and Labor will work on improving the corporate climate and attracting new foreign investments. Japanese investors are welcome to our country, and I hope in the coming period, through joint cooperation, we will bring new businesses from Japan to the Macedonian market with the goal of further enhancing economic ties between the two countries,” Durmishi said at the meeting.
According to the Ministry, Minister Durmishi thanked Ambassador Otsuka for the continued assistance and Japan’s contribution in strengthening the stability and prosperity of the Western Balkans, noting that he deeply values Japan’s Western Balkans Cooperation Initiative and its support for membership in the European Union as an important factor for the stability of the region.
