DUI’s Ademi says Siljanovska-Davkova violated Constitution in speech, failed to mention EU-integrations

Skopje, 12 May 2024 (MIA) - DUI party whip Arber Ademi said at a press conference Sunday after the inauguration of President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova that the new President “violated the Constitution while being sworn in, urged unity while only mentioning two party leaders, failed to say anything meaningful and didn’t mention the Euro-integrations”.

“We would like to express regret over the speech of President Gordana Stiljanovska-Davkova. She trampled the Constitution with her very sentence by not mentioning ‘Republic’, nor the ‘Republic of North Macedonia’, with all implications of this action. She said it’s time for unity, but then only mentioned two leaders from the Macedonian bloc, excluding all others,” Ademi said.

According to Ademi, in her speech the new President didn’t say anything meaningful, pointing out that she failed to touch upon the country’s Euro-integration process and its challenges.

“It was a speech for March 8 [International Women’s Day] containing nothing meaningful, there was no mention of NATO and the NATO membership of the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as all the challenges that lie ahead of us. She also didn’t say a single word about the European Union and the country’s Euro-integration process, with all its challenges. She didn’t say a single word about fostering multi-ethnic relations, nor the Prespa Agreement, nor the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness with the Republic of Bulgaria, nor the constitutional changes,” Ademi stressed.
