DUI to support VMRO-DPMNE resolution if constitutional name used
Skopje, 21 July 2021 (MIA) – DUI will support the resolution on the red lines in the talks with Bulgaria if it incorporates the country’s constitutional name. A resolution that doesn’t use the constitutional name has no legal capacity, said Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani on Wednesday regarding the resolution that VMRO-DPMNE has filed in Parliament. “As Foreign Minister, my position on the issue of the resolution has always been that no damage is done. Therefore, I have always weighed the benefits and harm that the process could produce. That is why the first thing I called for was that any resolution is adopted through consensus, because we have been working hard on building a consensus that crosses ethnic and ideological lines on the matter. It was this consensus that helped us get the near-same consensus in the EU itself,” Osmani told reporters. He noted that the issue on the constitutional name in the resolution has opened new problems, instead of helping to solve them.
