Skopje, 18 October 2023 (MIA) – Amid elevated terror alerts in European countries, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani said Wednesday that the relevant authorities are monitoring the situation in North Macedonia, adding that no concrete threats exist.

“In terms of the situation in North Macedonia, the domestic services are in charge of that, we are constantly being notified over an increase in the sensitivity, without concrete threats, but we are also in constant coordination, and we are monitoring the situation through international communication and domestic communication,” said Osmani, in answer to a journalist’s question after the press conference with Werner Amon, Minister for European and International Affairs, Education, and Human Resources of the Austrian State of Styria.

The Austrian Minister said the security situation is tense in all European countries and that the level of the security alert system has been elevated.

“Because of everything that is going on, we need to ensure greater security. The security situation is tense in all European countries, and we have elevated the level of our security alert system. The security situation is tense, and all appropriate measures will have to be taken,” said Amon.

In terms of whether North Macedonia will provide humanitarian assistance to Gaza, Minister Osmani said the country is ready to do so once the conditions are created for it.

Regarding the Macedonian couple stuck in Gaza, the Foreign Minister said there aren’t any new developments. "We are communicating with them but the sole exit through Egypt is still closed, and as a result they are unable to evacuate," said Osmani.
