Director-General Azoulay welcomes Kovachevski in a first visit to UNESCO by a Macedonian PM

Skopje, 9 November 2023 (MIA) - Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski is paying an official visit to UNESCO in Paris on Thursday, where he was welcomed by UNESCO Director-General, Audrey Azoulay.

This is the first official visit of a Macedonian PM to UNESCO, the Government said in a press release.

PM Kovachevski, alongside Minister of Culture Bisera Kostanovska Stojchevska, held a meeting with UNESCO Director-General, Audrey Azoulay.

"Interlocutors highlighted that this year North Macedonia marks the 30th anniversary of its membership in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. In the current global cultural context, North Macedonia is a worthy example of a successful multi-ethnic democracy, as a country that has demonstrated in action that diplomacy is a means for overcoming challenges. The country continues to contribute to the mosaic of diversities that UNESCO also nurtures, a feature of the common world, through the ancient linguistic and cultural heritage and its functional multicultural society," the press release reads. ssh/nn/
