Dimovski: National Security Agency takes all necessary measures for secure sheltering of Afghan civilians
Skopje, 31 August 2021 (MIA) – The National Security Agency has taken all necessary measures for proper and timely security check, as well as other activities that will enable secure sheltering, transport and stay of the Afghan civilians in North Macedonia, National Security Agency head Viktor Dimovski said Tuesday.
According to him, controls have been carried out timely and in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, other security institutions and partner services of NATO member states. He added that measures have been taken for the temporary stay of the Afghan evacuees, which will be up to 90 days in the country, to take place in best order.
“According to information we have received so far, these are citizens, prominent activists in civil society organizations, some of whom are journalists, and some are citizens who have worked in the civilian staff to support the work of foreign embassies in Afghanistan. Checks were carried out timely. We act in accordance with our competencies, take other measures and activities and we are convinced that everything related to the stay of this group will take place in the best possible order,” Dimovski told reporters after Tuesday’s press conference on the anniversary of the establishment of the National Security Agency.
As regards the spread of fake news, Dimovski pointed out this is a phenomenon that is faced not only by our country, but also by the countries in the region and beyond. He said he was satisfied that such fake news doesn’t find any serious support in public opinion.
The threat of extremist, terrorist and similar activities, he stressed, is permanent both for our country and for the countries in the region and in the world.
“What I mentioned about the realization of the terrorist group from Kumanovo and Skopje, which had 11 members, speaks about the fact that there are certain individuals and groups who think that in that way they will achieve their goals. So, with or without this activity, our activities and our attention continue. This is certainly an additional task for all of us to do as much as possible for their stay in these 90 days to take place in the best possible order,” said Dimovski.
