Kochani, 5 April 2024 (MIA) – In this presidential campaign I offer a concise and concrete program with five principles that I will implement as a future president. One of the main commitments is a complete departization of the security and diplomatic field of the country, ZNAM Movement’s presidential candidate Maksim Dimitrievski said at a rally Friday in Kochani.

“The president should appoint career diplomats, and not people who are coming out of the party’s offices, without any education in diplomacy, and some of them don’t even know a foreign language. I will work towards a complete departization of the security apparatus, because it is impermissible for a commander of a police station or some other security institution to be afraid of greeting you just because he is subordinate to someone from another political party. The president plays a decisive role in the reform of the judiciary, and the impunity for those in power is impermissible. Both to the Constitutional Court and the Judicial Council I will put forward candidates with experience, dignity, respect, integrity, and knowledge in their fields,” Dimitrievski said.

Dimitrievski said he strives for greater cooperation with the other institutions, but said he wouldn’t approve of the decisions of Parliament that are contrary to the interests of the citizens, “such as the express change to the Criminal Core or the French proposal for negotiations with the EU”.

“I will establish a team of experts on the EU, which I will oblige to work on all the judgements of the European Court of Human Rights against Bulgaria and regarding the rights of the Macedonian organizations there, because those citizens also have rights in accordance with the European standards. We will make all decisions with reciprocity. Additionally, I will initiate a legal team which will be in charge of analyzing and modifying, i.e., redefining the negotiating framework with the EU, in accordance with the socially acceptable circumstances in our country. We don’t mind adding the Bulgarians to the Constitution, but we do mind Bulgaria’s denial of the fact we are Macedonians,” Dimitrievski said.

On Friday, Dimitrievski also met with the citizens of Vinica, where he underscored the necessity of the country’s integration within the EU for the socio-economic conditions.
