Deskoska's election took place as part of the 137th plenary session of the Venice Commission, held 14-16 December, 2023.

"Being elected Vice-Chair of this commission is a recognition of my previous engagement in the drafting of opinions that were unanimously adopted by the Venice Commission. As the only member who does not come from a member state of the European Union, I participated in the drafting of an opinion on the independence of the judiciary in the Netherlands, and I was also engaged in the drafting of several opinions on the organization of the public prosecution in Moldova, as well as on the legal framework for political parties in Mongolia and Azerbaijan regarding which I was also a reporter at the sessions," Deskoska posted on Facebook.

The Venice Commission is an advisory body of the Council of Europe composed of independent experts in the field of constitutional law and political system, whose prime function is to provide constitutional assistance to member states in the form of Opinions relating to draft constitutions or constitutional amendments, or to other draft or legislation in force.
