Deputy PM Marichikj and Visegrad Ambassadors expect accelerated pace of EU enlargement process
Skopje, 16 February 2022 (MIA) – Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj attended Wednesday a working lunch hosted by Ambassadors of the Visegrad Group (V4) and expressed gratitude for their active promotion of the EU enlargement policy, especially with regards to North Macedonia. Deputy PM Marichikj told the Ambassadors of Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic that North Macedonia would largely rely on the experience and support from these countries once it started the EU accession negotiations, the Secretariat for European Affairs said in a press release. The V4 Ambassadors consider there is a need for accelerated pace in the EU enlargement process, because this is the best mechanism for stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans. V4 will continue to actively support North Macedonia in the accession process, considering Skopje’s commitment to the implementation of reforms and embracing of European values and standards in all areas. Discussions also referred to the further improvement of the constructive cooperation, the new approach in the talks with Bulgaria, and other regional and international developments, reads the press release.
