Skopje, 31 May 2023 (MIA) – The fight against corruption and organized crime, constitutional amendments, the screening process, the Euro-integration reforms, as well as French investments in renewable sources of energy with full support from the Government, were the topics of discussion at Wednesday’s meeting between the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Political System and Inter-Community Relations, Artan Grubi, and the French Ambassador to North Macedonia, Cyril Baumgartner. 

“The fight against corruption and organized crime remain a priority of the Government, and we urge all citizens, media and civil society to join the actions of condemning abuses, but also propaganda and fake news. The vetting process will contribute to the credibility of individuals in the judiciary and politics,” said Grubi’s Office in a press release.

Grubi and Baumgartner also spoke about the ongoing screening process, as well as the initiative for the constitutional changes, and the need to resume the next steps to EU membership.

Regarding the Euro-integrations, according to the press release, the Ambassador reaffirmed the support of the Republic of France for North Macedonia, adding that the negotiating framework is reflected in the new EU methodology, alongside the mobilization of all domestic institutional capacities.

Deputy PM Grubi and Ambassador Baumgartner also spoke about French investments in renewable sources of energy with full support from the Government, as part of the agreement reached with the EU for a doubling of the percentage of energy sources in the total consumption, from the current 22 percent to 42.5 percent until 2030.
