Deputy PM Grkovska meets representatives of U.S. Treasury
Skopje, 22 September 2022 (MIA) – Deputy PM for good governance policies Slavica Grkovska met on Thursday with a delegation of the U.S. Department of the Treasury led by Senior Advisor on Budget and Financial Accountability, Sheila Beckett.   Grkovska expressed gratitude for the continuous and steadfast support from the United States in achieving the country’s Euro-Atlantic goals, the Government said in a press release.   Deputy PM Grkovska briefed participants in the meeting on her Cabinet’s activities in increasing institutions’ transparency and accountability, strengthening the principles of good governance, integrity training for elected and appointed officials and projects that are being implemented in the area of the digital transformation of society, with support of the U.S. Embassy and the Estonian Center for International Development Cooperation.   Talks also tackled deepening cooperation and new projects with the U.S. Treasury, which would be aimed at strengthening capacities in terms of integrity among tax and customs officials, as well as in the area of anti-corruption policies, reads the press release. Deputy PM Grkovska stressed that it is very important to prepare solutions that will be long-term and sustainable and will ensure standardized processes in the future.  “Interlocutors reaffirmed commitment to deepening mutual cooperation through concrete projects that will enable strengthening of democratic principles and standards, in the interest of responsible and accountable governance,” the press release adds.
