Skopje, 29 February 2024 (MIA) - The need to strengthen financial and human capacities, especially the lack of experienced and expert staff in the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC), was in the focus of the meeting of Deputy PM for Good Governance Policies Slavica Grkovska and the new SCPC members on Thursday.
Deputy PM Grkovska wished the new SCPC composition success in their work of establishing an efficient system of preventing and countering corruption and conflict of interests, the Government said in a press release.
SCPC president Tatjana Dimitrovska expressed assurance of a successful cooperation with the Office of the Deputy PM for Good Governance Policies, considering that all authorities involved in the anti-corruption system share the same objective.
Dimitrovska said the coming elections represent the first challenge for the Commission, which is obliged to monitor the entire process and undertake measures in cases of suspected law violations. In this regard, she referred to the necessity of defining sanctions in the Electoral Code provisions that regulate bans.
Grkovska emphasized the need to strengthen the cooperation between SCPC and the Public Prosecutor's Office towards overcoming problems, especially in regard to the reasons why none of the 56 reports by the Commission has been processed.
Interlocutors also discussed the need to strengthen the Commission's financial and human capacities, especially the lack of experienced and expert staff in the SCPC sectors, taking into consideration the work volume, reads the press release.
