Deputy PM Bytyqi and EIB’s Gabriel discuss bank projects in N. Macedonia

Skopje, 25 October 2023 (MIA) – Deputy Prime Minister in charge of economic affairs, Fatmir Bytyqi, held a meeting Wednesday with the Head of the European Investment Bank’s (EIB) Representation in North Macedonia, Bjorn Gabriel, during which they spoke about the assistance provided by the EIB through the realization of projects of vital interests for the citizens, said the Government in a press release.

The Government said the focus of the meeting was the construction of the waste water treatment plant in Skopje, as well as the renovation and rehabilitation of the water infrastructure in all municipalities that need it.

“Interlocutors exchanged information over the construction of the final section of railway corridor VIII/east, from Kriva Palanka to the border with the Republic of Bulgaria, which is currently in its final stage, they also spoke about a potential new project for a climate-resilient infrastructure to be funded by the Green Climate Fund,” said the Government.

The Government noted that the EIB, as the country’s longstanding partner, has invested around EUR 1.1 billion in North Macedonia since 1991, mainly in support of key transport infrastructure, and the provision of energy and energy security.
