Deonin Meidani appointed as new Albania’s Ambassador to North Macedonia

Tirana, 18 February 2024 (MIA) - The new ambassador of the Republic of Albania to North Macedonia will be Deonin Meidani.

Meidani presented his platform to the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Albanian Parliament and received the support.

“North Macedonia is more than just a good neighbor; it is a partner, ally, and supporter in our joint path towards regional and Euro-integrative processes,” Meidani said before the members of Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by Mimi Kodheli.

During a hearing held via the online platform "Zoom," he underscored that one of his main priorities is to bolster regional cooperation and advance relations between the two nations.

“The signed agreements between the two governments not only further institutionalized our relations but also have and will continue to significantly impact the improvement and facilitation of the lives of our citizens. We should consider cooperation as a success story. With vision and courage, we jointly undertake significant reforms. Regional cooperation will be my top priority. The relations between our two countries serve as an example of collaboration in the region, and I pledge to strive for further advancement of these relations,” he said.

Meidani, the son of the former Albanian president and prominent university professor Rexhep Meidani, is to replace the outgoing Ambassador Fatos Reka.
