Defense Minister: Decisions for military donation to Ukraine are classified due to security reasons
Skopje, 15 August 2022 (MIA) - The decisions to donate military equipment and arms to Ukraine were made by a sovereign and independent country regardless of the fact that we are in NATO and we are part of the collective security system. They are classified due to security reasons, Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska stated Monday. She noted that the government so far has made three decisions to donate military equipment to the Ukrainian army. "Details were not revealed due to security reasons, however once the documents are declassified, the public will be informed about the amount and type of equipment and arms we donated to Ukraine," said the Minister when asked by a reported at a news conference to comment on public speculation about the donation. The government, Petrovska added, believed that since Ukraine, another sovereign and independent state, is under attack it should help considering the basic principles of independence. This was our motivation to make the decisions. The Minister confirmed that the tanks recently sent to Ukraine are part of that donation, but fell short of revealing how many tanks. "During the political decision-making, the opinion of the Army General Staff was taken into consideration since it is in charge of guaranteeing the combat readiness of our country," Petrovska said, adding the tanks were no longer part of the Army formation and had been out of use.
