Debar registers record high COVID-19 cases
Debar, 27 August 2021 (MIA) – In the past 24 hours, Debar registered a new record number of new COVID-19 cases – 32, the highest daily number of new cases reported in the city since the onset of the pandemic. At the same time, one person, aged 54, died, while seven patients recovered. “This daily number bumps down the previous record of 30 new cases, recorded on August 18. Over the course of August, Debar and Centar Zhupa registered a total of 301 new COVID-19 patients. Unfortunately, one patient passed away as a result of the virus, which makes them the 11th casualty in August. Seven patients recovered today, for a total of 116 recoveries registered this month,” said Debar’s General Hospital. A total of 33 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized there. “Due to deteriorating health, two patients have been transferred for treatment to Skopje, where five other Debar residents are also hospitalized. 20 patients also come in for treatment daily,” the hospital underlined. Debar confirmed its first COVID-19 cases in late February 2020. The city has so far registered 1,276 coronavirus cases, of which 219 are currently active. About sixty Debar residents have passed away since the onset of the pandemic.
