David Bowie's handwritten lyrics could fetch €115,000 at auction

Newton-Le-Willows, 27 November 2023 (MIA) - David Bowie's handwritten lyric sheet for two of his songs could sell for up to €115,000 at an auction taking place on Tuesday, said auction house "Omega Auctions". 

 

The lyric sheet includes the late singer's drafts, notes and corrections when creating his songs "Rock n' Roll Suicide" and "Suffragette City", which feature on his 1972 studio album "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars". 

 

The auction house has previously sold a page of Bowie's handwritten lyrics for his song "Starman" for more than €190,000.  

 

The Bowie lyric sheet among Tuesday's "Omega Auctions" sale has an estimated price tag of €57,000 to €115,000.

 

The sale also includes a lyric book previously owned by Oasis' Noel Gallagher which features lyrics to "She's Electric", "Going Nowhere", "Step Out Tonight", "Rockin' Chair" and "Champagne Supernova". A page containing handwritten lyrics by The Doors frontman Jim Morrison is also up for sale, along with guitars, amps and musical scores from various musicians.

 

David Bowie died from liver cancer on 10 January 2016, aged 69.
