Skopje, 2 May 2024 (MIA) – The State Election Commission (SEC) is prepared for the upcoming elections,the confidential voting material will be distributed on Friday and Saturday, the municipal election commissions are obliged to submit it on Tuesday, and the preliminary results are expected to be announced by midnight on May 8, SEC President Dashtevski said on Thursday.  

Dashtevski told Sitel TV that voters in the upcoming double elections can vote only once at a polling station. 

Asked if privacy is being violated as voters will be asked before the observers at the polling stations whether they want to vote in the presidential or the parliamentary elections or in both, Dashtevski said that was not in the area of secret ballot. 

"I cannot give an answer to that because we deal with conducting elections and not with pressure. The set of instructions was adopted more than a month ago. There was a serious debate and those were the conclusions. What has been concluded must be implemented," he said. 

He added that he expects the preliminary election results to be unveiled by midnight.
