Dashtevski: Municipal elections taking place in peaceful atmosphere
Tetovo, 20 August 2022 (MIA) - State Election Commission President Aleksandar Dashtevski and his deputy Ditmire Shehu have arrived in Tetovo to monitor the voting that is under way for the extraordinary elections for members of the municipal council. Touring several polling stations, Dashtevski said the process takes place in peaceful and democratic atmosphere. "Everything functions as it should. Some polling stations had published lists only in Albanian but not in Macedonian. It is technical error and we pointed out that it should be bilingual," he told the media. Voter turnout in the Municipality of Tetovo by 11:30 am is 6.71%, 14.11% of voters cast their ballot in Mavrovo and Rostushe by the same time and 14.47% in Centar Zhupa, Dashtevski revealed. "By now, 20 complaints for violation of voter's rights were submitted in all three municipalities and half of them have been already settled," he said adding he hoped voting will continue to be held in peaceful and democratic atmosphere by the closing of the polls.
