Dameva: Judiciary and executive to see each other as associates, citizens deserve justice
- The judiciary and the executive should not see each other as adversaries but associates because this institutional cooperation is very important for the next steps in bringing back the citizens' trust. Citizens deserve non-selective justice in the country, and this can be achieved only through inter-institutional cooperation and detecting shortcoming in certain institutions and addressing them accordingly, said Judicial Council chair Vesna Dameva after a meeting with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on Tuesday.
Skopje, 20 August 2024 (MIA) - The judiciary and the executive should not see each other as adversaries but associates because this institutional cooperation is very important for the next steps in bringing back the citizens' trust.
Dameva said the Judicial Council initiated the meeting in order to present constructive proposals regarding the work of the judiciary and restoring citizens' trust in the sector.
"Full implementation of the recommendations noted in the peer review mission report depends on our commitment. The Judicial Council is already implementing these recommendations towards successful completion of the reform process," said Dameva.
She expressed hope that today's meeting is the first step towards rectifying the detected shortcomings in the judiciary, while adding that "citizens deserve justice".
