Skopje, 13 August 2024 (MIA) - The Customs Administration said Tuesday it has disrupted an international channel for illegal trade of anabolic steroids, whose production, sale and use are banned by law.
According to the head of the Customs Administration, Boban Nikolovski, 192 kilograms of anabolic steroids worth Mden 5.5 million have been seized, with charges filed against the perpetrators.
“Oral steroids Oxanabolic and Metanabol, as well as injectable steroids Testec, Testen and Sustamix have been seized,” Nikolovski said at a press conference at Skopje’s International Airport.
Nikolovski said the case has been recognized by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
“With this seizure, Macedonia is currently in the top three countries globally on the World Anti-Doping Agency's list of seizures of prohibited substances,” he underlined.
Minister of Sport Borko Ristovski vowed that the country will firmly oppose the use of prohibited substances in sports.
