Skopje, 10 October 2023 (MIA) — Customs agents at the Skopje International Airport have seized about five kilograms of silver jewelry and costume jewelry that a British foreign national and a Turkish foreign national tried to smuggle.

"In the first case, a British owner of a jewelry store tried to take four kilograms of silver jewelry and costume jewelry out of the country without declaring the merchandise," the Customs Administration said in a press release.

The jewelry was found in the passenger's carry-on luggage.

In the second case, customs officials found 123 pieces of silver jewelry in the suitcase of a Turkish citizen who had arrived in the country from Istanbul.

The undeclared jewelry was seized under customs regulations, the release says. mr/
