Current parliamentary composition to hold final session at month's end

Skopje, 18 March 2024 (MIA) - North Macedonia's current Parliament will be active until the end of March, given that the campaign for the presidential elections begins on April 4, to be followed by the campaign for the parliamentary elections.

Speaker Jovan Mitreski told a coordination meeting at the Parliament on Monday that the legislative house will not have any activities during election campaign in order to prevent possible abuses, the Speaker's office said in a press release. The Parliament, adds the press release, will be active until the end of March.

Monday's talks with members of the parliamentary groups focused on bills currently in Parliament, regarding which a second reading will be possible at the session that will be held next week. The session will most likely be held on March 27 or 28.

Discussions also tackled legal solutions in Parliament which require additional alignment between the parliamentary groups.

VMRO-DPMNE representatives have not attended the coordination meeting.
