Cultural cooperation in focus as Minister Ljutkov meets Spanish-Macedonian cultural association representatives

Skopje, 24 January 2026 (MIA) - Within the framework of Macedonia’s presentation at the FITUR 2026 international tourism fair in Madrid, Minister of Culture and Tourism Zoran Ljutkov met with representatives of the Spanish-Macedonian Cultural Association “Sonce.”

According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the meeting focused on advancing cultural cooperation between Macedonia and the Kingdom of Spain, emphasizing the promotion of cultural exchange, Macedonian cultural heritage, and mutual understanding between the two nations. Participants also shared experiences and explored possibilities for joint cultural initiatives and projects.

“The Spanish-Macedonian Cultural Association “Sonce,” led by its president Olivera Lazarevska Sanchez, actively works to promote Macedonian culture, tradition, and identity in Spain, serving as an important bridge for cultural communication between the two countries. The meeting offered opportunities to advance cooperation through cultural events and activities that raise awareness of Macedonian culture and heritage,” according to the Ministry.

According to the press release, the aim of these activities is to strengthen cultural ties between Macedonia and Spain, promote cultural dialogue, and create a sustainable foundation for long-term cooperation, with culture recognized as a key driver of mutual connection.
