Criminal Court: Neziri and three suspects in M-NAV case face 30-day house arrest and precautionary measures

Skopje, 11 January 2024 (MIA) – Skopje Criminal Court Skopje has imposed Thursday afternoon a 30-day house arrest on four individuals linked to the events at M-NAV along with additional precautionary measures, including the temporary seizure of travel documents, a prohibition on their issuance, and a restraining order preventing approach or establishment of contacts or relationships between the suspects and the injured party. Among the four individuals is Bekir Neziri, an advisor at M-NAV and a member of DUI.

“The Criminal Court, considering the presented facts and evidence in the prosecutor's appeal and the responses to the appeal from the defense, taking into account the statements in the decisions from previous proceedings, has reached a decision with which: The appeals of the Public Prosecutor are partially accepted, and decisions are made imposing house arrest for a duration of 30 days on the four individuals, along with additional precautionary measures, including the temporary seizure of travel documents, a prohibition on their issuance, and a restraining order preventing approach or establishment of contacts or relationships between the suspects and the injured party,” reads the press release.

According to the decision, supervision of house arrest falls under the competence of the Interior Ministry, and parties have the right to appeal these decisions before the appellate court in Skopje within 24 hours of receiving them.

"The Court emphasizes that based on all the facts and data provided thus far, the specific incident did not occur in the control tower, i.e., the area where navigation takes place, but rather in the space separated by at least two security entrances before the tower. However, as emphasized in the previous press release, it is a fact that the suspects undertook certain actions that need further investigation to determine the actual situation. In light of these circumstances, the Court has issued decisions to implement measures aimed at ensuring additional guarantees for the continued availability of these four suspects," reads the press release of the Skopje Criminal Court.
