COVID-19: 870 new cases, 37 patients die
Skopje, 31 August 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia on Tuesday registered 870 new infections and 37 fatalities after a total of 5,844 COVID-19 tests were conducted in labs across the country in the past 24 hours. Out of the confirmed cases, 368 were recorded in Skopje, the Health Ministry said in a press release, citing Public Health Institute data. Of the 37 fatalities, Skopje registered ten deaths, while Tetovo registered eight. Kumanovo and Struga registered four deaths each, Gostivar three, Kochani two, while Prilep, Veles, Kavadarci, Strumica, Kichevo and Debar one each. The deceased were aged 22-85. In the past 24 hours, 661 people recovered from the virus. At the moment, 14,249 cases are active nationwide, of which е 5,523 in Skopje. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has recorded 176,494 COVID-19 cases and 156,307 recoveries. The death toll has reached 5,938. A total of 1,158,171 COVID-19 tests have been conducted so far.
