COVID-19: 766 new cases, 486 recoveries, 12 deaths
Skopje, 17 January 2022 (MIA) – North Macedonia registered 766 new COVID-19 infections after 3,748 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours, as well as 12 deaths and 486 recoveries, the Health Ministry said on Monday.
Of the new cases, 521 were registered in Skopje followed by Bitola – 33, Kumanovo – 32, Strumica – 23, Kavadarci – 20, Prilep – 19, Shtip – 17, Ohrid – 16, Struga – 9, Gevgelija – 9, Kichevo – 8, Resen – 8, Veles – 7, Gostivar – 6, Tetovo – 5, Sveti Nikole – 4, Probishtip – 4, Valandovo – 4, Kratovo – 4, Negotino – 3, Kriva Palanka – 3, Radovish – 2, Bogdanci – 2, Demir Hisar – 2, Delchevo – 1, Debar – 1, Makedonski Brod – 1, Demir Kapija – 1, and Makedonska Kamenica – 1.
In addition, 86 of the total number of new cases (766) are reinfections.
Twelve deaths were registered in the past 24 hours, including four in Skopje (aged 63, 65, 80 and 81), two in Bitola (80 and 82), one in Ohrid (58), one in Gevgelija (72), one in Kavadarci (67), one in Kriva Palanka (74), one in Kochani (48), and one in Demir Hisar (82). All patients died in hospital.
According to the Covid-diagnosed fatality registry, three people died in the period between Jan. 3 and Jan. 11, 2022.
At the moment, 16,397 cases are active nationwide, including 8,788 in the capital. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,710,444 tests, recording 245,398 COVID-19 cases and 220,886 recoveries. The death toll has reached 8,115.
