Covid-19: 668 new cases, 7 deaths, 81 reinfections
Skopje, 20 February 2022 (MIA) — Of the 3,974 people tested for Covid-19 in North Macedonia over the past 24 hours, 668 were diagnosed with the coronavirus. Of them, 81 were diagnosed for the second time. And seven deaths, of people aged 60 to 82, were added to the coronavirus death toll, the Ministry of Health said Sunday.
Of the 668 new covid cases, 340 were diagnosed in Skopje. New cases were also recorded in Bitola – 43, in Kumanovo and Strumica – 33 each, Ohrid – 30, Prilep – 23, Tetovo – 22, Kavadarci, Veles, Shtip and Kichevo – 15 each, Gevgelija – 11, Struga and Bogdanci – 9 each, Gostivar, Negotino and Sveti Nikole – 8 each, Resen and Debar – 5 each, Kochani, Kriva Palanka and Demir Kapija – 3 each, Radovish, Delchevo and Makedonski Brod – 2 each, Berovo, Valandovo, Vinica, Kratovo, Krushevo and Demir Hisar – one in each town.
In the past 24 hours, 887 people recovered from the acute infection and seven people died from covid.
Three people died from covid in Prilep (aged 80, 80, and 81), two died in Skopje (aged 78 and 82), and one person died in Kumanovo (75) and Struga (aged 60). All of them died in hospital.
The MoH press release says all seven people who died had underlying health conditions.
According to official statistics, there are now 7,595 active cases nationwide, of which 4,205 in Skopje.
Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,870,093 coronavirus tests, recording 293,328 covid cases and 276,835 recoveries. The death toll has reached 8,898. mr/
