COVID-19: 525 new cases, 18 deaths
Skopje, 24 September 2021 (MIA) – Over the past 24 hours, North Macedonia registered 525 new COVID-19 cases from 3,858 tests done in the country, the Ministry of Health said in a press release on Friday, adding that 449 patients recovered and 18 people died from coronavirus-related complications.
New cases were recorded in Skopje – 268, Kumanovo – 40, Strumica – 27, Shtip – 25, Bitola – 23, Ohird –17, Veles and Sveti Nikole – 16 each, Kavadarci – 15, Kichevo – 14, Prilep and Kochani – 10 each, Kriva Palanka – 9, Gevgelija – 6, Struga – 5, Tetovo and Radovish – 4 each, Negotino – 3, Gostivar, Berovo and Kratovo – 2 each and one each in Resen, Vinica, Probishtip, Demir Hisar and Demir Kapija.
Of the 18 fatalities, 12 died in the past 24 hours and six in the period August 22-September 19. Of the 12 patients who passed away in the past 24 hours, three were from Skopje (aged 82, 83 and 87), two from Kumanovo (75 and 65), two from Tetovo (69 and 38) and one each from Prilep (81), Demir Hisar (71), Kichevo (70), Shtip (69) and Delchevo (60). Of the six earlier fatalities, two were from Tetovo, two from Kumanovo and one each from Kichevo and Gostivar. They were aged 56-84.
At the moment, 12,207 cases are active nationwide, of which 5,714 in Skopje.
Since the onset of the epidemic, a total of 1,269,370 tests have been made, recording 189,159 COVID-19 cases and 170,395 recoveries. The death toll has reached 6,557.
