COVID-19: 256 new cases, 545 patients recover, 31 die
Skopje, 9 September 2021 (MIA) – Over the past 24 hours, North Macedonia registered 256 new COVID-19 cases from 2,778 tests done in the country, 545 patients recovered and 31 people died from coronavirus-related complications, health authorities said Thursday. According to the Ministry of Health citing Public Health Institute data, of the 256 new COVID-19 cases, 160 were diagnosed in Skopje. New cases were also recorded in Kumanovo – 32, Prilep – 9, Ohrid – 8, Kavadarci, Strumica and Struga – 6 each, Bitola and Resen – 5 each, Kriva Palanka – 4, Veles – 3, Tetovo, Gostivar and Kichevo – 2, Shtip, Sveti Nikole, Debar, Radovish, Kratovo and Makedonski Brod – 1 each. Of the 31 people who died from coronavirus-related complications, 9 died in Skopje (aged 86, 78, 75, 71, 70, 65, 59, 56 and 46), 6 in Gostivar (aged 83, 73, 71, 65, 65 and 60), 3 each in Tetovo (aged 68, 67 and 62), Kumanovo (aged 84, 78 and 72) and Strumica (aged 72, 68 and 54), 2 in Kichevo (aged 55 and 49), and one person each in Bitola (aged 81), Veles (aged 76), Gevgelija (aged 18), Debar (aged 62) and Makedonski Brod (aged 38). In the past 24 hours, 545 people recovered from the virus. At the moment, 13,631 cases are active nationwide, of which 5,919 in Skopje. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,206,597 tests, recording 181,875 COVID-19 cases and 162,060 recoveries. The death toll has reached 6,184.
