Covid-19: 2,051 new cases, 14 deaths, 276 reinfections
Skopje, 19 January 2022 (MIA) — Of the 6,353 people tested for Covid-19 in North Macedonia over the past 24 hours, 2,051 were diagnosed with the coronavirus, 276 of them for the second time. Seven people, aged 48 to 86, died from covid, and another seven people were added to the coronavirus death toll after they were reported as having died from covid between Jan. 8 and 14, 2022. Four of the 14 people who died from covid were fully vaccinated, the Ministry of Health said Wednesday. Of the 2,051 new cases, 677 were diagnosed in Skopje. New cases were also recorded in Bitola – 170, Prilep – 107, Kumanovo – 86, Strumica – 55, Tetovo – 49, Ohrid – 48, Shtip – 47, Kavadarci – 45, Gostivar and Kochani – 43 each, Gevgelija – 39, Kichevo – 34, Veles – 32, Radovish – 30, Struga – 24, Delchevo – 22, Sveti Nikole – 21, Resen – 19, Negotino – 15, Kratovo – 14, Valandovo – 12, Berovo, Bogdanci and Demir Hisar – 10 each, Kriva Palanka and Krushevo – 8 each, Demir Kapija – 6, Pehchevo – 5, Probishtip – 4, Makedonska Kamenica – 3, Makedonski Brod – 2, Debar, Vinica and Dojran – 1 each. In the past 24 hours, 747 people recovered and seven people died from covid. Two people died from covid in Skopje (aged 82 and 86), two people died in Bitola (aged 48 and 65), one person died in Kriva Palanka (aged 76), one died in Prilep (aged 77), and one died in Ohrid (aged 70). All of them died in hospital. The seven deaths added to the coronavirus death toll were logged by health authorities between Jan. 8 and 14, 2022, and include two people from Skopje, two from Gostivar, one from Gevgelija, one from Strumica, and one from Tetovo. They were aged 47 to 89 when they died. Four of them died at home and three died in hospital. At the moment, there are 18,498 active cases nationwide, of which 9,714 in Skopje. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,723,835 coronavirus tests, recording 249,704 covid cases and 223,053 recoveries. The death toll has reached 8,153. mr/
