COVID-19: 2,019 new cases, 973 recover, 19 die
Skopje, 26 January 2022 (MIA) – North Macedonia registered 2,019 new COVID-19 infections after 6,119 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours, as well as 19 deaths and 973 recoveries, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday.
Of the new cases, 968 were registered in Skopje, followed by Bitola – 150, Kavadarci – 104, Kumanovo – 75, Tetovo – 71, Prilep – 64, Veles – 62, Strumica – 61, Gevgelija – 48, Kochani – 45, Ohrid – 41, Shtip – 38, Gostivar – 33, Resen – 33, Negotino – 31, Radovish – 27, Struga – 26, Kichevo – 24, Sveti Nikole – 18, Delchevo – 18, Valandovo – 13, Berovo – 12, Vinica – 10, Bogdanci – 10, Kriva Palanka – 9, Krushevo – 5, Demir Hisar – 5, Makedonski Brod – 5, Kratovo – 4, Probishtip – 2, Pehchevo – 2, Dojran – 2, Debar – 1, Makedonska Kamenica – 1, and Demir Kapija – 1.
In addition, 254 of the total number of new cases (2,019) are reinfections.
Fifteen deaths were registered in the past 24 hours, including four in Skopje (aged 61, 70, 85 and 85), three in Prilep (71, 72 and 82), two in Bitola (84 and 84), one in Gostivar (72), one in Ohrid (81), one in Kochani (70), one in Sveti Nikole (79), one in Strumica (78), and one in Shtip (78).
According to the Covid-diagnosed fatality registry, four persons died in the period Jan. 18-22, 2022.
Six of those who died (19) were fully vaccinated.
At the moment, 21,883 cases are active nationwide. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,762,045 tests, recording 261,347 COVID-19 cases and 231,179 recoveries. The death toll has reached 8,285.
