Covid-19: 1,715 new cases, 24 deaths, 241 reinfections
Skopje, 3 February 2022 (MIA) — Of the 4,811 people tested for Covid-19 in North Macedonia over the past 24 hours, 1,715 were diagnosed with the coronavirus. Of them, 240 were diagnosed for the second time, and one for the third time. And 24 deaths, of people aged 51 to 87, were added to the coronavirus death toll, the Ministry of Health said Thursday. Of the 1,715 new cases, 882 were diagnosed in Skopje. New cases were also recorded in Bitola – 87, Kumanovo – 75, Tetovo – 69, Kavadarci – 66, Veles – 63, Ohrid – 56, Prilep and Strumica – 48 each, Gostivar – 36, Gevgelija – 33, Negotino – 29, Shtip – 28, Kochani – 26 , Kichevo – 24, Radovish – 20, Valandovo – 17, Bogdanci – 16, Struga and Kriva Palanka – 14 each, Resen – 12, Vinica – 9, Sveti Nikole and Delchevo – 8 each, Demir Kapija and Pehchevo – 5 each, Kratovo and Makedonski Brod – 4 each, Probishtip – 3, Debar and Demir Hisar – 2 each, and Makedonska Kamenica and Dojran – one each. In the past 24 hours, 2,057 people recovered and 20 people died from covid. Seven people died from covid in Skopje (aged 58, 70, 70, 74, 76, 82 and 87), two died from covid in Bitola (aged 77 and 81) and one person died from covid in Veles (aged 59), Gevgelija (aged 81), Kavadarci (aged 64), Kumanovo (aged 66), Negotino (aged 63), Ohrid (aged 57), Resen (aged 82), Sveti Nikole (aged 73), Struga (aged 68), Tetovo (aged 66) and Shtip (aged 66). Of them, 19 died in hospital, and one person died at home. The eight deaths added to the coronavirus death toll were logged by health authorities between Jan. 26 and Feb. 1, 2022, and include one person from Strumica, one from Shtip, one from Valandovo, and one from Bitola. They were aged 51 to 76 when they died. All of them died in hospital. According to the MoH, nine of the 24 people who died from covid were vaccinated, and 20 of them had underlying health conditions. At the moment, there are 13,962 active cases nationwide, of which 7,624 in Skopje. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,803,508 coronavirus tests, recording 274,144 covid cases and 251,688 recoveries. The death toll has reached 8,494. mr/
