COVID-19: 16 deaths and 491 new cases

Skopje, 22 September 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia registered on Wednesday 491 new COVID-19 infections after 3,747 tests were carried out in the past 24 hours. Citing Public Health Institution’s report, the Health Ministry said there were 16 fatalities in the same time period and 416 people who have recovered from the virus.

Of the new cases, Skopje reported 232, said the press release.

Sixteen people died in the past 24 hours including eight patients in Skopje aged 88-64. Kumanovo reported three deaths, while Strumica, Tetovo, Ohrid, Shtip and Berovo reported one fatality each.

“Additionally, according to the registry of fatalities diagnosed with COVID-19 from the My Appointment e-service, six more people have been registered, who died in the period from September 14 to September 20. Of those, Skopje and Shtip reported two deaths each, Struga and Kichevo reported one each. They were aged 54-83. Of those, three patients died in hospital while the others at home,” the Ministry said.

So far, North Macedonia has conducted a total of 1,261,880 COVID-19 tests with 188,113 of them coming back positive. Death toll reached 6,511 and a total of 169,116 people recovered since the onset of the pandemic.

At the moment, there are 12,486 active cases nationwide, including 5,709 in Skopje.
