Covid-19: 1,543 new cases, 26 deaths, 221 reinfections
Skopje, 2 February 2022 (MIA) — Of the 4,667 people tested for Covid-19 in North Macedonia over the past 24 hours, 1,543 were diagnosed with the coronavirus. Of them, 220 were diagnosed for the second time, and one for the third time. And 26 deaths, of people aged 41 to 90, were added to the coronavirus death toll, the Ministry of Health said Wednesday.
Of the 1,543 new cases, 784 were diagnosed in Skopje. New cases were also recorded in Bitola – 98, Kumanovo – 81, Kavadarci – 59, Tetovo – 58, Strumica – 45, Prilep – 44, Veles – 41, Gostivar – 39, Negotino – 31, Kochani – 29, Kichevo – 28, Ohrid – 27, Radovish – 24, Shtip – 20, Struga and Valandovo – 17 each, Sveti Nikole and Resen – 15 each, Gevgelija – 14, Delchevo – 12, Kriva Palanka – 10, Bogdanci – 9, Probishtip, Demir Hisar and Makedonska Kamenica – 5 each, Kratovo – 4, Berovo – 2, Debar, Vinica, Krushevo, Makedonski Brod and Demir Kapija – 1 each.
In the past 24 hours, 1,961 people recovered and 18 people died from covid.
Nine people died from covid in Skopje (aged 63, 72, 72, 73, 74, 78, 79, 85 and 90), three people died from covid in Prilep (aged 56, 69 and 76), two people died from covid in Ohrid (aged 84 and 89), and one person died in Bitola (aged 84), Kichevo (aged 74), Kumanovo (aged 83) and Resen (aged 63). All of them died in hospital.
The eight deaths added to the coronavirus death toll were logged by health authorities between Jan. 4 and 29, 2022, and include three people from Skopje, one from Probishtip, one from Shtip, one from Strumica, one from Delchevo, and one from Gostivar. They were aged 41 to 81 when they died. Four of them died at home and four died in hospital.
According to the MoH, 12 of the 26 people who died from covid were vaccinated, and 25 of them had underlying health conditions.
At the moment, there are 14,336 active cases nationwide, of which 8,031 in Skopje.
Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,798,697 coronavirus tests, recording 272,437 covid cases and 249,631 recoveries. The death toll has reached 8,470. mr/
