COVID-19: 15 deaths and 487 new cases
Skopje, 20 October 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia on Wednesday registered 487 new COVID-19 infections, including 230 in Skopje, after 3,491 tests were conducted in labs across the country in the past 24 hours. In the same time period, 15 deaths and 1,487 recoveries were registered, the Health Ministry said. Of the 15 fatalities, Skopje registered nine, aged from 61 to 89, Kumanovo three and Valandovo, Kichevo and Prilep one each. All patients died in hospital, said the press release. “Additionally, according to the register of fatalities due to Covid-related complications, five more deaths are registered, dated from Sept. 23 until Oct. 12. Four patients in Skopje and Veles, aged 33 and 83, died in hospital. Another one died at home,” said the press release. At the moment, 5,699 cases are active nationwide, of which 2,932 in Skopje. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,351,460 tests, recording 198,156 COVID-19 cases and 185,459 recoveries. The death toll has reached 6,998.
