COVID-19: 1,250 new infections and 22 deaths

Skopje, 21 August 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia on Saturday reported 22 deaths and 1,250 new infections after a total of 8,192 COVID-19 tests were conducted in labs across the country in the past 24 hours.

Out of the confirmed cases, 421 were registered in Skopje, 192 in Gostivar and 133 in Tetovo, the Health Ministry said Saturday citing Public Health Institute data.

Of the 22 fatalities, Skopje registered four deaths (aged 51, 66, 69, and 72), Tetovo also four with the youngest being 38. Gostivar registered three deaths, Ohrid, Struga, Kichevo, Debar registered two each, and Kumanovo, Veles, and Valandovo one each, said the press release.

In the past 24 hours, 265 people were registered as having recovered from the virus.

At the moment, 10,380 cases are active nationwide, of which 3,421 in Skopje.

Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has recorded 167,991 COVID-19 cases and 151,957 recoveries. The death toll has reached 5,654.
