Court passes judgement on Strumica helicopter crash in which four MoI pilots were killed
Strumica, 6 April 2022 (MIA) – The Basic Court in Strumica passed a judgement in the case of the helicopter crash near the city in which four MoI pilots were killed on July 10, 2014. According to the judgement, defendant Julijana Spirovska, who was director of PE Macedonian Radio Broadcasting at the time, was given two-year conditional prison sentence that will not be enforced if she doesn’t commit a crime in the next three years; defendant Dragoslav Radeski, technical director, was given 18-month conditional prison sentence that will not be enforced if he doesn’t commit a crime in the next two years; and PE National Radio Broadcasting was fined Mden 1 million. In line with the law and the judgement, they are charged with grave acts against the general security. On July 10, 2014, in a helicopter manufactured in 2008, pilots of the Ministry of Interior including Dragan Micev, Marjan Trajkovikj, Tode Oreshkov and Iljo Lopatichki were on a night flight on the route Skopje-Veles-Negotino-Valandovo-Strumica-Berovo_Delchevo, using night flight equipment. At the moment of the crash, the helicopter Mi17 hit an antenna pole of then PE Macedonian Radio Broadcasting, killing the four pilots on spot.
