Skopje, 25 April 2024 (MIA) - According to the Executive Director of the Economic Chamber, Antoni Peshev, the business community in North Macedonia believes that political changes await the country. He said they expect greater turnout for the parliamentary elections and the second round of the presidential elections and urged the new government to consistently implement the things that have been agreed with the business community ahead of the elections.

“We are facing political changes in terms of the country’s management. It’s certain there will be changes. I am looking forward to seeing the first moves of the new government, provided it is formed. We should be happy that we had a peaceful election day. Turnout wasn’t huge but, still, we’re just talking about presidential elections. I expect the turnout to be greater on May 8. It is important that all larger political parties were in the Economic Chamber, well-prepared, with economic programs, some better than others. For us, it was nice to learn they are interested to hear what we have to say. What we don’t want to see a repeat of is for nothing to come of our agreement, for example, about where our focus should be or what should be done promptly. This time I hope that there will be a winning combination at the parliamentary elections especially, since that is especially important for us – so that the things we’ve agreed, even if not 100 percent, can be implemented consistently so that we can have predictability and the companies are able to adjust their functioning to the new conditions,” Peshev said in answer to a journalist’s question regarding Wednesday’s election day.

Before the beginning of the election process in March, the Economic Chamber held meetings with the leaders of the biggest parties, during which they heard the parties’ economic programs and promises and reiterated its demands.
